Betel Nut:
Max and I, with Roland and Karl, we visited TSMC, UMC, and Winbond to introduce CenterPoint Solution and our FDC after STT. 5/14/2007 ~ 5/17/2007
They were very curious about betel nut beauties when we back to Taipei from Hshichu Science Park on suburban roads. They saw many scantily-clad young betel nut beauties selling betel nut on roadside kiosks. I told them it is a uniquely Taiwanese phenomenon, the beauties are named after the legendary beauty Xi Shi from the Spring and Autumn Period of ancient China.
The main customer is composed of truck drivers who chew the mildly addictive nuts for the stimulant to help them stay awake on long trips. The high profitability of betel nut production and commerce has led to a multiplication of such kiosks, and as competition for customers' attention has increased, the girls staffing them have been wearing less and less. Betel nut girls are usually from working-class backgrounds. Some are secondary-school dropouts; others may have been forced into the work by their families, in which they are the primary wage-earners.
Split out like a baseball player chewing tobacco, but it comes out with some bloody color stuffs and it looks like a very serious illness person. Roland and Karl will bring it back to Austria to introduce for their colleagues.
